What is the Diakonie?

The Diakonie is the social service of the Protestant churches. Its mission is defined as active charity and advocating for people that live on the margins of society, who depend on aid or are otherwise disadvantaged. In addition to active aid, the Diakonie is also an advocate for the weak and publicly calls out the causes of social hardship in politics and society.

What does the app do?

The app offers people that are seeking refuge the opportunity to learn the basics of the German language. The app is always available, even when no internet access is available. The applicable mother tongue is selectable via a language menu. The entire range of the app is loaded onto a smartphone once downloaded. That way, you can access the app and learn through it anywhere and at any time.

For teaching staff

The option to purchase the language app as a book (9.99 euros) is also available for people who are active as language tutors in the refugee aid field.
